Mary Ann Farrington, 83, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Manhattan, New York—the same city where she was born on July 16, 1942. Her life began and ended in the heart of Manhattan, a place that shaped her spirit and remained central to her story.
Mary Ann was the beloved wife of the late Bob Farrington. Together they built a family rooted in love, resilience, and unmistakable character. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Rob, Tony and his wife Kate, Lori and her wife Jodi. Mary Ann also cherished her grandchildren—Brenna and her husband to be James, Ryan, Anthony, Connor, and Enzo—each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
A wake will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nagel Funeral Home, located at 352 East 87th Street in New York City. A Funeral Mass will follow on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church at 413 East 79th Street in New York City. A woman of strong opinions and an even stronger presence, Mary Ann had a personality that left an impression wherever she went. She was known for being stubborn in the best way and fiercely loyal to those she loved. She had a sharp wit and a love for conversation that often found its outlet in spirited gossip sessions or casual chats from her favorite perch on the stoop.
Mary Ann had a deep affection for the little things that made life colorful: butterflies fluttering by, anything adorned in purple hues, the feel of a good pen between her fingers as she did her crossword puzzles. Reading was one of her great pleasures—a quiet escape into other worlds that balanced her ever-watchful eye on the world around her.
She had a unique philosophy when it came to food—favoring snacks over full meals. Whether peering out from the fire escape window or keeping tabs on her children with loving vigilance, Mary Ann’s presence was constant and comforting.
Her legacy lives on not only through her family but also through the countless memories shared by those who knew her well.
May Mary Ann Farrington’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
