Mike was a native New Yorker who grew up on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. He attended Grammar School and High School in Manhattan Graduated from Long Island University with a Bachelors in Education and received his Masters in Education from Hunter College.
He taught Physical Education at Julia Richman H.S. in Manhattan.
He coached Soccer and Basketball and was an assistant Baseball coach.
Needless to say he loved sports especially Soccer and College Basketball. He was a die hard UConn. Women’s Basketball fan.
We both enjoyed spending our Summer vacations on Cape Cod. Loved the outdoor concerts at the Chatham Bandshell, the shows, the peacefulness of the ocean waves, the beautiful sunsets and of course the college baseball league games. We were fortunate to find a family run Motel that allowed us to bring our dogs. He loved our dogs Chappy, Cookie and Chess.
Folks will remember Mike as a kind, friendly man with a great sense of humor. Even when he was ill he tried to make us, his doctors + the nursing staff, laugh in order to brighten the mood.
Mike was predeceased by his parents Anne and Michael, and his 2 brothers Joseph Leshinski and Alexander Klimoski .
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Joyce P. Klimoski, his sister-in-law Claudette Leshinski, his nieces Alexis Stafford, Denise Klimoski, Claudette Carr, Jeanine Smykla, Denise Allen, Jeanette Hall, and his nephews Jim Leshinski and Martin Leshinski.
Mike was a generous man who donated to a number of charities. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to one of your favorite charities.
I am grateful for the outpouring of sympathy I have received from our friends, family, his doctors, the hospital staff, our neighbors and building staff. Joyce P. Klimoski
