Michelle was Melanie's Maid of Honor at our wedding in Rye NY at Manursing Island Club (9/30/84). Best friends from Thunderbird and Melanie's roommate in NY after.

We would like to express our sincere condolences to your family.  Michele was one of the most talented and generous leaders in the publishing industry.  It was a privilege to have been on her team at the Wall Street Journal.  She was an example to us all and will be deeply missed. 

Michelle was an exceptional kind, caring, selfless and genuine Lady. She always had a smile and greeted everyone warmly.  I will Always have a special place for Michelle in my heart.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Michelle years ago when I worked at CS First Boston.  We both were part of a very special group of friends who socialized regularly. 
At the time Michelle was a very successful executive at the Wall Street Journal yet she never exhibited bravado, only a keen intellect with a talent for inclusion and understanding of the value of interpersonal communication and building relationships.
I always admired Michelle for her grounded confidence and ability to seamlessly relate to anyone regardless of profession, status, or consequence.  Full of generosity, Michelle always had a smile, warm greeting, and kind word.

Michele was charitable with her entire heart and soul.  Her generosity and kindness to the Southampton Rose Society, was truly great.  She served as a Board member for the past several years and her contribution of time and energy is deeply appreciated.

I first met Michele in the halls of Antioch Junior High in Kansas City fifty years ago. Even then she was a classy, charming, fashionable, kind, generous and admired personality and the passage of time only served to amplify those traits. Her successes ranged from beauty pageants to student government to academics and lead to an astonishingly successful career with the WSJ and second career serving charitable causes. Throughout her life and accompanying successes she never changed from the optimistic, charming, funny, modest, self-effacing, and effervescent person she has always been. Never smug, condescending, snobby, or superior—she put everyone at ease with her graciousness and kindness. Many high school classmates who have not seen her in decades have commented on how they remember her consideration and sweetness. We’ve lost a special person and one of the brightest lights in our lives.

💔💔💔 It was my great honor and pleasure to work for 15 years with Michele Evenson, a beloved Wall Street Journal colleague on adventures around the world.

A wonderfully gifted, radiant and magnetic woman, a terrific business leader and a deeply loyal friend, Michele was the spiritual and cultural leader of Dow Jones International Sales & Marketing (DJIMS) throughout the 1990’s during a time of rapid growth and geographic expansion. Michele embodied the DJIMS spirit of international adventure, multiculturalism, unconditional support of her friends and colleagues, high performance, and great fun. She was the modal force behind the business success of The Wall Street Journal Americas, the Journal’s Latin American edition￼ to which she was appointed Publisher in the late 1990’s, the first woman to hold that title at any Journal edition. ￼ 

Michele had an unerring eye for publishing sales talent, was an intuitive and shrewd judge of character and was equally at ease with secretaries, media buyers, and heads of state. Among my fondest memories is the 1998 Wall Street Journal Conference of the Americas which she led including President Bill Clinton, Peruvian president Fujimori, and a half dozen Latin American finance ministers in attendance. 

Michele was the brightest, most charming, most lovely and effective global media executives I have ever had the pleasure to know. She was and remains absolutely adored by all of us with whom she worked in the US, Europe, Asia, and of course her beloved Mexico and Latin America.

I attended High School and college at MU with Michele. She was also in my sorority at MU, Kappa Alpha Theta. Although we did not keep in touch over the years, I marveled at the way she moved straight to New York at such a young age! I always bragged about her to my friends over the years.  I did see her at a sorority reunion one time and I asked her, in amazement, "what is it like living in New York?", and she replied so nonchalantly , "if you have a credit card, you can do anything." She was beautiful inside and out, everyone loved her. She would have been one of the girls everyone was jealous of, if you did not love her so much! She had the poise and confidence of a much older woman even in her teens. I would have given anything to have been able to see her and visit with her, even one more time. She is in my thoughts daily, my sincere wishes to her family for healing. I know she made a difference in each life she touched.
