Naomi S. Rosenthal, a lifelong Manhattan resident, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on October 7, 2024. She was born on March 13, 1923 in Manhattan and lived on the Upper West Side for most of her life until moving to the Upper East Side shortly after her marriage in 1966 to the love of her life, Anson Rosenthal, who predeceased her. She is survived by several cousins, all of whom live throughout the country.
Fondly known as “Sherry”, she was a loyal and dedicated friend, neighbor, and family member, was loved by many in her community, and will be greatly missed. Known for her vibrant personality, quick, sharp wit, and good nature, she thoroughly enjoyed the company of others. Sherry was very sociable, always had something interesting to talk about, and is remembered as someone who cared about other people. To the building staff and fellow residents where she resided, she remained appreciative to all and would always acknowledge and express her gratitude and thanks.
Having worked for many years in the New York City fashion industry, Sherry always had a keen sense of style and elegance in how she dressed. Weekly appointments with her favorite hairdresser were never optional. An avid equestrian, she thoroughly enjoyed riding horses from childhood. Although an injury later in life prevented her from riding, being the eternal optimist, she remained involved with horses as an owner of several thoroughbreds and actively followed and was involved in various activities and races.
She received her greatest pleasure in her numerous philanthropic endeavors, giving generously to many special charities near and dear to her heart, including animal rights, women’s healthcare, environmental initiatives, cultural and religious organizations, museums, hospitals, universities, and both local and international groups.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Naomi Rosenthal’s honor to The Brooklyn Hospital Foundation or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Interment to follow at Union Field Cemetery, 82-11 Cypress Avenue, Ridgewood, New York 11385.
