Paul Wolsk

Paul was born in Brooklyn and moved with his parents, Sam and Celia, and brother, David, to Freeport, Long Island when he was a child. He learned to play alto sax and clarinet as a teenager and started and led a band called "The Swing Kings" during college at Columbia. He met Vivien his senior year, when she was a sophomore at Barnard, and they married three years later, after he finished law school at NYU. He got a job with the Legal Aid Society while Vivien attended graduate school and they moved to Greenwich Village, where they raised their children, Dan, Jenny, and Matthew.

Eventually, Paul left criminal law, and became a record label attorney in the music industry, working on contracts for many famous artists. Later, he went into real estate law, eventually moving his practice to his beloved Perry St home. He retired in his mid 70s.

Paul lived a very active life, playing tennis and paddle ball, skiing, and traveling on food, wine and music adventures. He enjoyed socializing and easily made friends wherever he went. After a hiatus from playing music after college, he picked up the saxophone again in his early 50s, often performing with Vivien, his favorite vocalist and adored life partner. In fact, he accompanied her just a few weeks ago for a Valentine’s Day tribute at his favorite weekend retreat, Gipsy Trail Club in Carmel, NY where he was a devoted and greatly beloved member for 30 years. He served there as chairman several times and joyfully planned and hosted many well attended events and celebrations. Most of all, Paul adored and was very proud of his children Dan (and wife, Jill), Jenny and Matthew and his grandchildren, Sam, Lilly, Madeline, Eleanor and Stella.
