Peter George Smith, 70, passed away unexpectedly at his home at 646 West End Avenue, New York City, Sunday 14 January 2018 Peter was born in Montclair, NJ, but grew up in Yonkers, NY. He attended P.S. 16 and graduated from Charles E. Gorton High School (Class of 1965).
He subsequently attended and was employed at NYU Loeb Student Center for several years. More recently, he had been employed in graphics arts in various financial institutions.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Dorothea Smith of Chautauqua, NY. He is survived by his daughter Rachel Fiedler of Summerville SC. and his brother Michael M. Smith (Kaie) of Lakewood, NY.
Peter was the grandson of the late George William Eggers, noted artist, educator, and art museum director (Chicago, Denver, and Worcester) and art Professor Emeritus at CCNY (1930 - 1948).
Peter himself was a talented artist, musician, and writer. He will be very much missed by his family and his many close friends.
