What a lovely kind man Rabbi Posner is. 
I met him through a special pilgrimage I was on that because of my faith caused me to.stay in shelters and appear to be a bag lady.
I was in need of a prescription. Though only a small amount no one would help me.
I went to the synagogue because the LORD sent me there. Rabbi Posner came down Himself and gave me the amount I needed

I was so humbled and grateful I wrote to him when I returned home to Oregon and wrote to thank him. This was the beginning of some very kind letters back and forth when I learned of the character if this GREAT MAN of G-D.
If you have his letters  check in early 2000s when he went to Israel because of something I revealed to him.
I still think of him and remember him in my Prayers.

Dear Sylvia, Rachel and Rafe,

David was my rabbi, my teacher but most importantly he was my friend.  My mom considered him her second son and I can only remember the kindness and compassion he showed her when my dad passed and me when she passed.  Sylvia, when David retired, I said to you that I hope we can keep in contact and your response to me was "you are our friend."  Of course ife and times don't always allow what we want but even though contact may not have been what it was, David was my friend and that is what I will always live with.
Jeffrey and I want to extend our deepest sympathy to all of you, our love to all of you and our thoughts go out to all of you.

Dear Sylvia and family,
I am so sorry to learn of Rabbi Posner or as I knew him as David.
I remember the times in the music room and David was there with Mr.Weil and I just can't remember the other music teachers name right now.
I remember turning the sheets of music while David played the songs for our Senior Sing at Tilden High School He was a genius to those piano keys.
There were a few times when I called him for his advice on a family matter and he gave me his time.
To say I am shocked to learn of his passing would be an understatement.  He was so young. In fact David was just a month older than me. 
Sylvia, I can only express my deepest sympathy to you and your children and grandchildren and your entire extended family.
Take care of yourself and be well. I'm sure that's what David would want 
You guys always made a beautiful couple.

I can see david so vividly playing a chopin piece on the grand piano in the auditorium of meyer levin junior high school  
Over the  years my late brother harvey and i talked about the posners and their call to  judaism

Dear Sylvia ,
I just received the saddest and most shocking news of the sudden passing of your husband Rabbi Posner  and I wish to extend to you and your wonderful  family my sincerest and most heartfelt sympathies.He was the most sweet, loving ,wonderful, compassionate, and understanding man who  patiently guided my family and me thru Temple services..Sunday school..2  bar mitzvahs..my wedding and the passing of my husband . David  will be greatly missed by all and I will always be eternally grateful to him for educating me and my family.

     Rabbi Posner had the most loving and open-arms approach to make us all feel wonderfully welcome at Emanu-El.  And more important... able to enjoy our religious and spiritual life.
     For example, after he officiated at my mother’s funeral, I asked him how many days should we sit shiva (knowing the answer was seven).  True to his nature, he replied, “However many days you feel is right, that’s how many days you should sit.”  I answered incredulously, “Is this Judaism?  When I was growing up, everything we did was wrong.  Now, everything we’re doing is right!”
     Thank you, dear Rabbi Posner, for beautifying our world, for our Bat Mitzvah Hilary, for your Moonlight Sonata concert, and for Shabbat at our home.  We love you and your family.
