
Richard grew up in Flatbush, graduated from Brooklyn Friends, Boston University and Brooklyn Law School.
He started his career as a criminal defense attorney with The Legal Aid Society and after several subsequent affiliations formed Goldberg & Cohn LLP with Steven D. Cohn in 1974,
where he had an active criminal defense practice as well an active matrimonial and commercial litigation practice.
Among other affiliations Richard served as, President of the Kings County Criminal Bar Association, a Trustee of the Brooklyn Bar Association as well as a member of the board of the NYS Office of Medical Professional Conduct.
Richard was tall, very dapper and funny with an open hand a very serious commitment to his clients and his community. He will be missed by those close and those he touched.
A memorial gathering will be scheduled for for the spring in Brooklyn.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Watson, his daughter Dana M Dasch Goldberg and grand children Raphael, Odelia and Rae Gerschel.
