

Sherri B. Sonin, a founding member and Senior partner in the law firm of Sonin & Genis, Esqs., passed away on September 17, 2017. Ms. Sonin is a past: President of the Bronx Woman's Bar Association, Vice President of the Jewish Lawyers Guild and received its Distinguished Leadership Award, Vice President of the Metropolitan Woman's Bar Association, Director of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the Bronx County Bar Association, and a Dean of the New York State Trial Lawyers Institute. She was a noted trial attorney and a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and a lecturer for various Bar Associations, served on various judicial screening panels, and was a frequent contributor to the New York Law Journal as an Outside Counsel columnist. She was one of the first woman trial lawyers to win a number of multi-million dollar verdicts. A graduate of the Syracuse University College of Law, where she served as an Editor of its Law Review Annual Survey of New York Law, and an honors graduate from Lehigh University. She is survived by her husband and law partner, Robert J. Genis, and her two children, Isaiah Genis, a consultant for Booz, Allen & Hamilton, and her daughter Mariah Genis, a visiting scholar at the Columbia University Law School. Funeral services will be held at Frank E Campbell "The Funeral Chapel" on Tuesday 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Sharon Gardens Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
