Sara and I couldn't attend your Celebration of Life,  so this seems like  the next best thing for sharing a memory. Suresh and I met in the 1980s, when I was just starting out with my market research business. We were very like-minded about doing business, but I had a lot to learn, and over the years he become my business mentor. I owe a lot of my success to his ongoing advice, and our relationship was always much more than business - food, travel, culture,  religion, parenting, you name it. We became lifelong family friends, and that has continued along now with Neena. Suresh's memory remains and is a constant inspiration for keeping me grounded.   

Few people have left a lasting impression on me, and with Suresh, that has been true from the day we met. It was well over 30 years ago, and the connection only grew stronger, not just in business, but on a personal level, both between us and across his family. While we were a generation apart, we had a common bond being immigrants to Canada around the same time, but he had a tougher go of that than me, and I've always admired how he got past that, and set the bar high for what it means to be a model Canadian. Of course, Suresh was citizen of the world, and you'd be hard-pressed to meet someone more cultured and connected, but also exemplifying the best in excellence, family values, tolerance, and of course great food, fine wine, and looking good. No fleece, flip flops or cargo shorts for Mr. Chawla, and don't you dare show up at his door sporting any of this. Suresh has seen my kids grow up and encouraged the pea in a pod closeness I've nurtured with my partner Sara. I could go on, but you get the idea. Suresh was special, as is his family, and his spirit will absolutely endure with all of them, and all of us lucky enough to be in his orbit. It's been a privilege to be in the Chawla fold, so namaste Suresh, and may you go and stay in peace.  Jon, Max, Dean and Sara

We are absolutely shocked to hear of Suresh's passing . A friendship made is a treasure to be cherished. A friendship lost is a searing rip in the fabric of our lives.  We were privileged to become a friend of Suresh. He was a jet-setter & foodie extraordinaire. You have left indelible footprints in the sands of time! We will miss him terribly.

We were shocked and saddened by the news of Suresh's passing. We will miss him and his unique knowledge  of Toronto restaurants and worldly knowledge. We have lost a friend of over 40 years. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Neena and family during this very trying time.


We are so stunned to hear of Suresh’s passing. He was an extraordinary man and there is no one in this world like Suresh.


We can never forget how he bragged about how wonderful Gautham, Aarti, Cisco and the grandkids were. We are sure you know that you all meant the world to him. No matter wherever he is, he’ll always be watching over you. We are sure that he will want all of you to be stronger to live your life even though he is no longer here in person. 


No words can ever express how devastated and heartbroken we are feeling now with Suresh’s passing. Life doesn’t seem fair sometimes and this is one of those moments. We will miss him terribly. It seems that he has left us too soon. We will always treasure the fun memories we have with Suresh and Neena in Goa India, at each other’s home in Toronto, at the Granite Club, restaurants in Toronto and a month ago at the Christmas lunch at our place. 


Words can’t describe how saddened we feel for you. We will keep you close in our thoughts and prayers for the coming days because we know that you’re in turmoil and grieving. You’re on our mind, we can’t even imagine what you’re going through.  

Sending hugs and prayers to  Neena, Gautham, Aarti, Cisco and the grandkids. A good heart has stopped beating, a good soul ascended to heaven. We part with our beloved Suresh in pain.
