Vincent Rinaldo, age 59 years old, a native New Yorker, resided most of his life in East Harlem, New York, where his beloved mother Remy still lives. On Thursday, September 12, 2019, our dearly beloved brother and son, went to be with the Lord after a sudden, fatal heart attack. Vincent was born on April 17, 1960, in NYC, son of Felix and Raymonde Dutertre Rinaldo who married in Normandy, France . Vincent is the second child of Felix and Raymonde Rinaldo; brother to Anthony, Catherine and Alan; and step-son of his beloved, long-time step father James Jordan. Vincent was known to many as a selfless, caring, and giving individual. People who knew Vincent would remark that he would give the shirt off his back to friends in need. Vincent’s passion included watching and playing sports in the neighborhood. His two favorite teams were the Knicks and Yankees. He was also a boxing enthusiast. He loved to entertain and cook for people while discussing his boxing prowess. Vincent loved to listen to Christian music and read spiritual books. God was his anchor and that kept him grounded. Vincent did not have an easy life; for many years he battled with mental illness, believing that he could cure himself by just living a healthy life style.
In 2001, Vinny met Anne, who was to become the love of his life. Though they began as “best of friends,” their shared experience, strengths, and interests, as well as their similar life values and devoted comradery led to making a home together in Gramercy Park, and then Stuyvesant Town. Where they shared 16 wonderful years together.
Vinny was beloved by employees at his work, local shopkeepers, city neighbors and his Rinaldo and Reinheimer families. Vinny always said that his main career goal was to take care of his “Queen” Anne; they were inseparable and loved their adventures together such as drives to City Island, Jersey Shore and especially Sun Valley to watch the horses and graze at the nearby mountain-tops. Vinny loved to cook and spent many hours in their kitchen, whipping up his Italian cuisine. He and Anne also watched their beloved Yankees and other sports teams religiously, reporting the on-going scores by phone to Anne’s father. Recently, Anne and Vinny added Suzy to their family; a beautiful, exuberant Bluepoint Siamese kitten. Vinny, as the proud Daddy, spent hours taking photos of Suzy , that brought joy and laughter to Anne and all of their relatives on a daily basis. They experienced joy and laughter together, despite the “curveballs” life threw at them. Vinny and Anne were deeply and madly in love, and were devoted to each other.
He was an inspiration to all of his loved ones. His memory will live on forever in our hearts.
