

McCarthy, William F. 98 passed away peacefully in New York on August 7, 2017 Bill was a Captain in the US Army Air Force in WWII. He will be deeply missed. Bill is survived by his devoted sister Helen Braun. And Cherished uncle of Winifred Mullaly, Joseph Bradt, William Bradt, Anne Marie Reichert, great uncle of 10 and great great uncle of five. Bill had worked in retailing and started out at Lord & Taylor. He later worked at Brooks Bros. before joining Bonwit Teller. At Bonwit’s he was V.P. of Advertising during the late fifties through the seventies, before retiring. He was known and well respected in the field. Bill loved the theatre, opera, ballet, philharmonic, art galleries and movies. He would reminisce and tell us about time he first saw a play or movie and recalled the names of the original cast members. Bill enjoyed making and drinking whiskey sours, talking politics and was a die-hard Democrat. Funeral from Frank E. Campbell “The Funeral Chapel” 1076 Madison Ave at (81st St) family and friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of the Christian Burial St Vincent Ferrer R.C. Church East 66th St & Lexington Ave. Thursday 10 am Interment St. John’s cemetery.
