Marjorie Ann Jackson, age 74, of Newburgh, IN passed away peacefully September 26, 2019. She was born May 15, 1945 in Kalamazoo, MI and is the daughter of the late Peter and Jennie (Deurloo) White.
She grew up in the Northwood Parchment neighborhood and graduated from Plainwell High School.
Marge worked at Eaton Corporation for 33 years and served her Comstock Township community on the park board and as a township trustee. Marge was creative and expressed herself with beautiful flower beds at her home and painted ceramics. She loved decorating the interior of her home and rearranging the furniture. In her retirement home in Newburgh, IN she worked tax season at H&R Block and was involved with the Newburgh American Legion Auxiliary – Kapperman Post 44. She was a member of the Newburgh United Methodist Church. Marge was a dedicated, loving mother to her only daughter, and was amazed she had 4 grandchildren to enjoy.
Marge was preceded in death by J. E. Poortenga, who she faithfully cared for in his fight with cancer; infant grandson, Gabriel J. Wood; also, two brothers, two sisters and two sister-in-law’s.
She married Stephen Jackson in 1991, and enjoyed 28 years loving him. Marge is survived by husband, Stephen Jackson; her daughter, Bonnie (Alan) Wood; 4 grandchildren, Christian, Paris, Piper and Presley Wood; brothers, Roger White, Bob (Susan) White, and Jerry (Kathy) White; sister, Joan (Robert) Hamnik; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, EST, Thursday October 3, 2019 at the Comstock Christian Reformed Church, 5300 Comstock Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI with Retired Pastor Dean Stewart from Flushing, MI officiating. A light luncheon will follow in the reception hall. A private interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Comstock at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Newburgh American Legion Kapperman Post 44.
