Shirley J. Stephan

Shirley Jean Stephan, 84, of Newburgh, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 15, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born July 15, 1935 in Evansville, IN to the late August and Ruth (Fleming) Banko. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, volunteering and sewing items for charitable organizations. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed, and always carried a special love for animals as her heart was boundless with love. She is survived by daughters Lisa Eckiss and Cindy (Greg) Mrozinski of Newburgh, and son, Randal (Suzie) Stephan of Lexington, KY; sisters Carol Rogers and Betty Griffith (Joe); grandchildren, Stephani (Scott) MacLeod, Brad Mrozinski, Goran Stephan and Eldon Stephan. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, John Stephan, in 2015, and an infant daughter and infant son. A private graveside service was held Wednesday, June 17, at Alexander Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life in remembrance of Shirley will be Saturday, June 20, in Lexington, KY. Memorial contributions may be made to Chemobuddies.org
