

Abe Nungesser was born August 18,1922 in Dalhart Texas, the son of Tilmon Rittenhouse Nungesser and Betty May Miller of Pennsylvania. They settled in the panhandle of Texas in the early 1900's. Abe attended schools in Texas and New Mexico and received advanced education from New Mexico State University and the University of New Mexico. Abe enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1942 and was honorably discharged in November 1945. He served in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy in four major battles.
Abe was employed by the Atomic Energy Commision, now the Department of Energy, for over 30 years. Abe then had 10 years of employment with Bank of America. Abe's strong work ethic was visible all through his career.
Abe married Frances Anderson, mother of two daughters from prior marriage, in 1963. Frances passed away in May 1983. Abe subsequently married Virginia Baumgartner Wall, the mother of three children prior to her marriage to Abe. Virginia passed away in 2009. Abe was the providing husband and father all throughout his lifetime.
Abe is survived by his stepchildren Patti Magnuson, Ann Chavez, Thomas Baumgartner, Rex Baumgartner, and Joyce Keil as well as numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Abe was blessed to have many steadfast friends in his long life. His friends were his angels. His endless faith made him the great and loving man he was.
Abe will be greatly missed by many.
A " Celebration of Abe's Life " will be held October 14,2023 at 11am at the Christ Lutheran Church in Valencia.
Abe will be buried at The National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
