Barbara Jean Maywood

Barbara was born in Santa Monica at St. Johns Hospital. She was raised in the Los Angeles county area attending school in the LA school district and graduated high school in 1969 from Venice High. She received her medical training, graduating from her training in September 1973, while proudly serving in the National Guard at Ft. McClellan, Alabama. Barbara began her career working at the Veterans Hospital in Westwood, Calif. shortly after leaving active service. She continued in the medical field after leaving her position at Veterans Hospital. Barbara supported private practice surgeons as a scrub nurse, assisting in the OR and in many administrative capacities for over 35 years. A primary purpose that Barbara pursued was the care and comfort of her patients in her professional pursuits and privately she nurtured her family relationships and her many friendships that were so rewarding for her throughout her life. Barbara always enjoyed entertaining her friends and family at her home in the San Fernando Valley. Barbara is survived by her Father, Brother, niece and nephew in addition to the many friends. All will greatly miss her sense of humor and welcoming smile. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Eternal Valley Chapel of the Oaks, 23287 Sierra Hwy., Newhall, California. Inurnment will be at Eternal Valley Memorial Park.
