Mr. McTaggart served our country proudly in the U.S. Navy while stationed in Japan. He was a sergeant in the Los Angeles Police Department and served in the force for 27 years until his retirement in 1990. He was also named by his peers as, "The Toughest Cop Alive." On November 18, 2010 he was due to be inducted into the LAPD Hall of Fame. Mr. McTaggart cared deeply about his health and the health of others. He was an avid runner and enjoyed fishing in his spare time.
He is survived by his dear wife, Dorothy Lynn, whom he married on October 15, 1988; son, Brian McTaggart; step-sons, Robert McKee and Todd McKee; step-daughters, Sheri Tynon and Michele Myers; brother, Jack McTaggart; sister, Kathy Wildermuth; nephews Jack Wildermuth and Roger Wildermuth; and niece Sandy Wildermuth.
