Palmdale, CA
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy Loray Harris (Dottie), who left us on January 25, 2025 at the age of 90. Dorothy was born on July 18, 1934, in Bicknell, Indiana, to Agnes Muriel Young and Clyde Wayne Barnes.
Dorothy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her boundless love and dedication to her family. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Cletus Lyle Harris, for 62 years. Together, they raised three children and built a life full of love, adventure, and memories.
Her artistic talents were numerous; she was skilled in cake decorating, sewing, oil painting, and embroidery—anything that allowed her to express her creativity with her hands. Dorothy took great joy in nurturing her family and friends, dedicating her time to those she loved.
Dorothy and Cletus shared a life full of travel and adventure. Married at the young age of 16 on May 27, 1951, they journeyed together through the many locations Cletus was stationed during his military career, including California, Maine, Germany, Mississippi, and Michigan. Their love of square dancing, traveling in their motorhome, and their active involvement with the Elks in Palmdale, CA, enriched their lives. They also dedicated many years to volunteering in their community. Their friendships, made over the years, were treasured, with many lasting from their time in the military and beyond.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Ronald Kim Harris (and wife Bobbie), Peggy Sue Bergstrom (and husband Gary), and Jayne Ann Fall (and husband Chris). She was a proud grandmother to Kailee Ann James (and fiancé Ryan), Alyssa Nicole Fall, Drew Harris Fall (and wife Alyssa), Shelby Loray Lopez (and husband Evan), Blake Evan Fall, Makenna Jayne Peterson (and husband Noah), and a great-grandmother to Olivia Christine Fall, Rowan Grace Fall, Harper Jayne Fall, Maya Loray Lopez, and a great-grandchild due in March 2025.
A funeral service for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, 23287 North Sierra Hwy., Newhall, CA 91321. A graveside service will follow from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
