With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Ethel Yessenia Castillo Monterrosa, who left this world on January 28, 2025. Ethel was the heart and soul of our family, a spark of light whose energy and warmth could brighten even the darkest days. She was a woman who never stood still, always keeping busy, always moving forward, and always giving everything she had to the people she loved.

Ethel devoted most of her life to her children—Allan, Isis, Christian, and Angie—who were the center of her world. She was the most loving and selfless mother and grandmother, always catering to her family with boundless love and unwavering dedication. There was never a moment when she wasn’t looking out for others before herself. Her kindness was limitless, her presence comforting, and her love unconditional.

Ethel’s passion was the kitchen, and feeding people was her love language. She didn’t just cook—she fed everyone. Whether it was family, friends, or even strangers, no one ever left her home hungry. She took immense joy in watching people enjoy her meals, knowing that through her cooking, she was nurturing the hearts and souls of those around her.

She had a deep love for animals, caring for countless dogs and cats throughout her life. Every pet that entered her home was showered with affection, and she found joy in their companionship.

Beyond her nurturing nature, Ethel was hilarious, with an infectious smile and a laugh that could fill a room. She brought joy wherever she went, her humor and lightheartedness lifting spirits even in the toughest of times. She was a fighter until the very end—strong, fearless, and never backing down from whatever life threw her way. Her resilience was unmatched, and her spirit unbreakable.

Con gran pesar, anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra querida Ethel Yessenia Castillo Monterrosa, quien dejó este mundo el 28 de enero de 2025. Ethel era el corazón y el alma de nuestra familia, una chispa de luz cuya energía y calidez podían iluminar incluso los días más oscuros. Era una mujer que nunca se quedó quieta, siempre se mantuvo ocupada, siempre siguió adelante y siempre dio todo lo que tenía a las personas que amaba.

Ethel dedicó la mayor parte de su vida a sus hijos, Allan, Isis, Christian y Angie, quienes eran el centro de su mundo. Fue la madre y abuela más amorosa y desinteresada, siempre atendiendo a su familia con un amor ilimitado y una dedicación inquebrantable. Nunca hubo un momento en el que no estuviera cuidando a los demás antes que a sí misma. Su bondad era ilimitada, su presencia reconfortante y su amor incondicional.

La pasión de Ethel era la cocina, y alimentar a la gente era su lenguaje de amor. No solo cocinaba, alimentaba a todos. Ya fueran familiares, amigos o incluso desconocidos, nadie salía de su casa con hambre. Disfrutaba enormemente viendo a la gente disfrutar de sus comidas, sabiendo que a través de su cocina estaba nutriendo los corazones y las almas de quienes la rodeaban.

Más allá de su naturaleza cariñosa, Ethel era divertidísima, con una sonrisa contagiosa y una risa que podía llenar una habitación. Llevaba alegría a donde quiera que iba, su humor y su alegría levantaban el ánimo incluso en los momentos más difíciles. Please join us as we honor the life of Ethel Yessenia Castillo Monterrosa. A service will be held on Friday, March 7th, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Eternal Valley Memorial Park & Mortuary, 23287 Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321. Following the service, a “Celebration of Life” gathering will be held at Casa Monterrosa in Canyon Country.
