Flora Davis was our mom and “Big Mama.” She was very spiritual and was a member of the Eastern Star. Flora was born to Wilson Jackson and Kate Arnold on February 18, 1914 in Itta Bena, Mississippi. Her only son, Frank James Crawford, had four children; Frank Crawford Jr, Bruce Crawford, Marcella Crawford and Lisa Crawford.
Flora moved to California with her husband, Arthur L. Davis, in 1942. She was an RN for 90 percent of her life, which suited her well because she was such a nurturing woman. Flora was also known as “Mom” to the many foster children to whom she gave an abundance of love. She was also a member of many social campaigns and charitable organizations. She volunteered her home as a polling location for numerous voters in her neighborhood. She was a member of the Mother’s Board, often fed the homeless, donated clothing, and gave all that she could. Her family and the love of God was, and always will be, her best friend.
Flora is preceded in death by her son, Frank Crawford; her husband, Arthur L. Davis; her brothers, Isaya, Judd, Joy, Charles and Lenzie; and her sisters, Mary and Suzie.
She is cherished by her grandchildren, Frank, Bruce and Lisa; her nephews, Charlie and Whilly; and her niece, Mary- Jean, all their families, as well as, many other relatives, in-laws, members of the community, friends, associates and all that adored her.
