What fond memories I have of Grace Carle when she was a major factor in the success of the Women Marines Company at Camp Pendleton, California. She was the epitomy of a Woman Marine, and was a mentor and friend to many.

My first encounter with a Sergeant Major was on June 19, 1972....for the rest of my 27 year career I never met one better than Sgt Major Carle. One of my Marine Corps mentors and, in our shared participation in WMA, friends. RIP and God bless! ( Special kudos to her wonderful niece who made sure Grace would make the 100th year anniversary of women in the Corps last year)
