

Howard was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, alongside his three siblings, Barbara, Chucky, and Raymond. In 1951, he married Phyllis Ganta, and together they built their first home in Chicago. The following year, they welcomed their daughter, Josie. In 1953, the family moved to California in search of new adventures, settling in Burbank, where they purchased their first home. Their joy grew in 1963 with the birth of their son, Butch.
A dedicated Freemason for over 60 years, Howard achieved the prestigious 32nd degree in the Scottish Rite of Free and Accepted Masons. He was also a proud Noble of the Al Malaikah Shriners and a member of the Jesters.
Howard’s career spanned more than six decades at HR Textron, where he retired as Director of Offshore Manufacturing. Known for his integrity, honesty, and dedication, Howard earned the respect of colleagues and peers throughout his career.
The qualities that defined Howard—kindness, generosity, and devotion—shone brightest in his relationships. For the past 25 years, he shared a deep bond of love and companionship with Sumi Helton, who brought joy and happiness to his life. Together, they created some of his most cherished memories.
Howard leaves behind his beloved companion, Sumi Helton; his daughter, Josie Dulaney, and son-in-law, Walter Dulaney; his son, Butch Amundson, and daughter-in-law, Christine Amundson; his four cherished grandchildren, Walter Dulaney, Shannon Dulaney, Kailee Amundson, and Alyssa Amundson; and four adored great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved brother, Raymond Amundson, along with many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for your prayers, cards, calls, and love during Howard’s illness. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, integrity, and joy will live on in all who knew him.
