

Jessie was born in Greenville, Sinoe County on December 15, 1940 to Gbah Tarloh Jartleh and Isaac Johnson and was the third of five children.
She attended Lexington Elementary School and later move to Monrovia, Montserrado County, where she attended school and later graduated from Martha Tubman High School in 1970.
In 1973, she attended and graduated from Lynn Bryant Secretarial School. Upon graduation, she worked for the Ministry of Agriculture for over 30 years.
She later worked for the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) until the civil war in the 1990’s.
While at the Agriculture Ministry, Jessie met and married the love of her life Roland Sambolah Sr. Their union was blessed with three beautiful children. (Roland, Manah-deceased, and Hawa)
Later she met and married J Benedictus Barr in 1979 and that union latest for 16 years.
Jessie was very big on religion, and she loved going to church on Sundays.
After relocating to Monrovia, Jessie joined the St. Thomas Episcopal Church where she sang alto in the choir.
Jessie moved to California to be with her children in 1997. She was very influential in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Some of Jessie’s hobbies include dancing, sewing, gardening, and cooking.
Jessie’s sickness had taken a turn for the worse at the end of December 2022, leaving her unable to fully recover.
Jessie W Barr is survived by her children Roland Sambolah and Hawa Summers, son in law Kevin Summers Sr., Grand children- Kevin Summers Jr. Taylor Summers, Manah Sambolah and Madea. Great grandchildren- Audrey and Kevin Summers III, Michelle, Ellie, and Funmi. Her sister- Francis Daniel, several nieces and nephews, Mambo and Tarloh Family, Relatives and many great friends.
Jessie will be in our hearts forever, gone but not forgotten.
