

John Anthony Liberatore was born on Staten Island, New York, on June 18, 1936. He was the son of Sabatino and Filomena Liberatore. His parents and sister, Jane, were all born in the town of San Bernadetto, Italy, province of Abruzzi.
John’s family immigrated to Staten Island, and then moved to the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, New York. John attended St. Matthews Elementary School and then St. Augustine High School in Brooklyn. He made many friends in Brooklyn and spent his youth playing baseball. After graduating from high school, John attended the City College of New York. After spending one year in college, he was drafted into the Army in 1960. While in the Army, He was stationed in Germany, did some sightseeing in Italy and played football and baseball for the Army while attached to an artillery company.
After his discharge from the Army, he married his first wife, Joyce and moved to Southern California. He became the proud father of three children, Eric, Michael and Gabrielle. During this time, he became a teamster and drove big rigs for 17 years.
In 1984, he met Armine Dardarian. They married in 1992 and have been together for 26 years. Armine also had three children, Steve, Elena and Denise. John became a second father to her children and loved them like his own. John worked at Keebler and Sunshine Bakeries as a machinist for11 years until his retirement. Armine and John had many happy years together after their retirement and moved to Saugus where they purchased a home. John loved the garden especially his fruit trees and roses.
He looked forward to spending two weeks with his favorite nephew, Bob, wife Charisse and son, Matthew, in upstate New York, every summer touring the area on many trips and attending baseball games in New York City.
John was a people person and loved a good conversation. He was warm, affectionate, caring and deeply liked by everyone who knew him. He loved all sports, especially baseball and his beloved New York Yankees. He enjoyed cooking his famous pasta, meatballs and superb gravy.
John was such a special father, grandfather, husband and friend. His memory will live in our hearts, and he will be remembered because of his kind nature and generosity by all who knew him.
