Lorraine M. Pool

The memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 16, 2014 at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Santa Clarita, CA, Chaplain Elias Molina of Glendale Adventist Medical Center, presiding. Her final resting place will be at Eternal Valley

Lorraine was born in Dixon, Nebraska on May 7, 1923. She graduated from Falls City High School in Falls City, Nebraska in 1941.

Lorraine was married to Joseph A. Pool, Jr. on July 10, 1939; they were married 43 years. In the early years of their marriage they traveled all over the United States while Joe was enlisted in the Army during World War II. After the war they relocated to Southern California, and shared their last home together in Santa Clarita, CA. Lorraine relocated to Acton in 1994 where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Kirk Van Houten.

Lorraine worked as a clerical assistant for the Firemen’s Fund Insurance in Los Angeles for a number of years. While raising her family she worked for Marquardt in Van Nuys, and in later years she worked for a welding company in Santa Clarita. Her passions in her retirement years were Bingo, the Nebraska Huskers, and the Dodgers. She enjoyed the many animals and pets at her home in Acton as well as the natural wild life.

Lorraine is survived by her children Phyllis Burkart, Judy and Kirk Van Houten, and Joe and Susan Pool. Her grandchildren are Sam Cairns, Shellie Gelhar, Lee Colby, and Summer and Greg Romero. She was blessed with 5 great grandchildren, Jamey, Lindsey, and Angela Gelhar, and Colton and Arthur Romero.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband Joe, a newborn son, and many other family and friends, and pets.
