It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our mother, Lorraine Theresa Roberts, born June 19, 1940, in Los Angeles, CA. Mom left this earth on November 24, 2021, to join our father, the love of her life for more than 55 years, Kenneth Roberts, her parents, Andrew Brand and Theresa (Brand) Duncan, as well as her daughter, Nancy Barnes, who preceded her in death.
Mom leaves behind so many who loved her dearly, including her 4 adult daughters, Theresa Roberts, Lory (Joe) Lomont, Sue (Paul) Hand, Kathy (Glenn) Park, brother Richard (Nancy) Brand, brother Andrew Brand, sister-in-law Linda Wedhoff, niece Deanne (Ray) Arroyo, who was more like her 6th daughter, as well as 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was well known to many throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, having settled her family here in the late 1960’s. Mom worked as a waitress at many of the dining establishments in the Santa Clarita Valley for many years, and also owned several restaurants including The Country Inn, The Town House and Kozy Lil Kafe. Mom was also the Director of Safety Consultants, where she worked until she retired in the 1990’s.
Mom has been a Friend of Bill W. since 1975, helping to establish a women’s group in Santa Clarita at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in the1980’s, giving women a safe place to meet and discuss women-related issues. Mom dedicated a lot of her time to her mission with Friends of Bill W., and we as a family are grateful for the peace and serenity she found through this organization.
A special heartfelt thank you to Badz, Judy and the wonderful team of caregivers at Affectionate Home Care. They treated Mom like family and loved her through her final journey, singing and worshiping with her daily; we couldn’t have asked for better care for her as we knew she was happy, safe, at peace and very well cared for.
The care and compassion Mom received in her final years of life from her Kaiser Hospice Team, including Dr. Garcia, Social Worker Amanda, RN Jean and Chaplain Joe, certainly eased Mom’s fears and kept her safe and comfortable.
Mom had a special and unique bond with each of her children and every one of her 13 grandchildren. She will be missed dearly and remembered fondly by all of us.
Rest In Paradise, Mom - We Love You More
