Maria Luisa Cetto de Villescas was born in Ixtapa, Mexico, and grew up in Tijuana. She was the first of 10 children to Francisco Cetto, who immigrated from Italy, and Rosario Pena, whom he met in Mexico. She moved to Tijuana at 10 years old where she completed her education and worked as a secretary. She immigrated to the United States in the 1950’s and worked as a housekeeper, in a frozen food factory, as a nurse’s aide, and as a homemaker. She married in 1968 to Salvador Villescas and had two children: Marie Eileen Villescas and Salvador Villescas. She lived a life centered in her strong faith in God and lived a life in service to others. As the first born, she supported many of her siblings as they grew up and as the immigrated into the U.S. She sacrificed personal desires to raise a family, especially after being widowed 14 years after marriage. She sacrificed to purchase a home, educate her children, become a citizen, and consistently continued to assist family whenever possible. She loved the Lord, her children, her family, and had a passion for gardening. She lived life on her own terms, and she is loved and fondly remembered for it. She went home to be with the Lord on January 7, 2012, where she awaits to assist us on our journey to heaven. A funeral service will be held at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, Newhall, CA on Saturday, January 14th at 10:00am with interment and reception following.
