Maybell Bernadette (Toth) Parente, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at her home in Santa Clarita. She was born in Morann, Pennsylvania, on April 21, 1928 to Michael and Anna (Januscko) Toth. She was the sixth of seven children.
After graduating from Bigler Township High School, 1946, she followed her two older sisters, Marge and Mary to New York. There, she met and fell in love with a tall, dark and handsome man named Tommy Parente. They married October 7, 1950 in St Patrick’s Church in Brooklyn, NY. They had two daughters, Rosanne 1953 and Michele 1955 and May became the quintessential 1950’s homemaker. She loved God, her husband, her children, her home, her family and friends.
She enjoyed cooking, holidays and parties of all kinds. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, cards and slots.
After her husband retired in 1984, they relocated to Valencia, California to be near the family. By this time, May had become a “Baba” (a Czechoslovakian grandma) who loved being a part of their day to day lives.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rosanne Parente of Santa Clarita and Michele Parente Donatich (Richard) of Grayslake, Illinois; her granddaughters, Denise Donatich Passolt (Kevin) and Kimberly Donatich, both of Chicago, Illinois.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00am at the Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, Chapel of the Hills.
May will be remembered as a woman of kindness, courage, faith and love. Her cooking, and laughter and her words of advice will be missed by all who knew her.
