Michael Phillip O'Brien

Michael Phillip O'Brien passed away March 30, 2026 at his home in Castaic, CA. He was born July 23, 1959 at Newhall Community Hospital. He went to Hart High School and eventually retired from the William S Hart School District. In 1976, he married Karen Loveless. Together they had two children, Penny and Robert. He later married Heidi Baker and they enjoyed spending time with their family and grandchildren. He worked hard for his family, often telling stories of the long night shifts at Thatcher Glass. Mike enjoyed fishing, thrifting, and loved his Los Angeles sports teams. He loved random trivia, animals and enjoyed many years at the ranch with the horses and mules. Mike loved quietly and was a simple man. His absence from our family will be felt forever. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Connie O'Brien, his granddaughter Paisley Hope and his two dogs Duke and Billy. He leaves behind his children Penny (Patrick) Griffin, Robert (Stephanie) OBrien, 8 grandchildren and was to become a great grandfather in September. He is also survived by his brother Pat (Jodi) O'Brien and their children and his sister Erin O'Brien and her son Mesay. At a later date, Mike's ashes will be scattered at Ventura Beach where he enjoyed many summer days with his family.
