Pete (a.k.a. Pedro) was born in San Nicolas, Gapan, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. He was a gentle and intelligent soul who loved engaging in lively conversations and occasional humor with those he met. A top student, he went to Nueva Ecija South High School and then later graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He married Concordia (Ody) Uytingco in Quezon City, Philippines, and welcomed his first child in 1972. He cherished education and encouraged his children to think critically and express themselves clearly, inspiring a love for learning. After immigrating to the United States, he worked in various capacities, most recently, for over 20 years, at the City of Pasadena Department of Water and Power.
Pete always enjoyed reuniting with friends and classmates from high school and with his “brods” from college fraternity, Epsilon Chi. With his wife, Ody de Guzman, he led, sang carols and had many laughs with the St. Patrick’s Filipino Community.
As a devoted husband, he tenderly cared for his wife during her illness, and as a father, he was generous and supportive, always believing in and championing his children’s pursuits. Pete took Pilates, grew fruit trees in the back yard and played chess with his grandchildren. He will be missed deeply but his family is comforted knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife in heaven.
Pete is survived by his four children, three grandchildren, and a beloved Husky, Hero.
