

Samuel Arthur Meyers was born Dec. 11, 1936 in Yuma, AZ. He was the only child born to Samuel and Gladys Meyers. At the age of 1 1/2, he and his mother moved to Los Angeles and later to Berkley where he attended elementary school. As a teenager, he lived with his grandmother in Bakersfield, CA. In June 1955 he graduated from East Bakersfield High School.
After graduating he attended Los Angeles Trade School in Los Angeles, CA to be an auto mechanic and also joined the U.S Marine Reserves. It was his lucky year because that same year he met his future wife, Petra, to whom he would be married for 60 plus years. They were blessed with two children; Mary and Michael, three grandchildren; Nicole, Michael and Alec, one great-grand child; Zoe.
Sam united with Lighthouse Christian Center in April 2004. He remained a faithful member until death. Sam began working for the Southern California Gas Co. on Jan. of 1966 until he retired in Dec. of 1993 at the age of 56.
Sam loved and enjoyed old cars, camping, western and wilderness stories. Any small, out of the way road he saw as an adventure. Sam was well known for his BBQ, which he loved to cook for his family and friends. Sam leaves behind his wife, his two children and his three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
