Stan and wife Mickie have lived in LCF since 1973. Stan’s parents Glen and Naomi Neilson welcomed him to this life on June 19, 1938 while residing in Eagle Rock, CA. His siblings include Don (Connie) Neilson, Richard, Janice (Bill) Reese, Ralph (Roseann) Neilson and Susie (Roy) Sherman.
He served a mission for the LDS church in Uruguay, South America and always retained a love for those he could speak Spanish with. Upon returning to Eagle Rock, CA in 1962 he married his sweetheart Mickie Haring in The LDS Los Angeles Temple. Together they have 6 children. Jenny (David) Scott, Julie (Rick) Smith, Jill (Todd) Broberg, Jeanette (Brad) Seggar, Joy Neilson, and James (Chanelle) Neilson. They have been blessed with 20 grandchildren. 10 of their children/grandchildren have served missions for the LDS church throughout the world.
Stan was a master craftsman, a carpenter by trade, his talents included electric work - abilities taught by his father Glen, plumbing and literally every trade connected with home building. He was a man of God who served diligently in all of his church assignments including serving in three Bishoprics, as a Stake Missionary and Church High Councilman. He was involved in Scouting, High Priest Group leadership, Los Angeles Temple Worker and Home Teacher. He built his own recumbent bicycle and enjoyed electric cycling, along with riding his Vespa and being in nature. Stan is known for his Christ-like love and service he generously gave to everyone. Kindness, gentleness, humility and compassion for others are words friends and family have used to describe him.
Stan passed away from respiratory failure. Services will be held this Saturday, Feb. 27 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1830 Foothill Blvd., La Canada, CA 91011. Viewing from 9:00-9:45 am Service at 10:00 am. Burial at Eternal Valley Memorial Park, 23287 Sierra Hwy., Newhall, CA 91321.
