Stephen, usually known as Steve, was the second of seven children born to John and Dorothy Besch. He grew up in a loving, supportive home and spent his childhood years in Panorama City and Sun Valley. For elementary and high school, he went to St. Genevieve Catholic School and then later attended Valley State College. Known for his fun-loving nature and playful spirit, Steve always made the most of every opportunity and enjoyed life to the fullest. He had a passion for a variety of sports including baseball, tennis, skiing, and golf.
In 1975, he met the love of his life, Sue Hollywood, and they married in 1976. Steve worked as a district manager at Wonder Bread for many years and was admired for his integrity and hard work. Together, Steve and Sue raised three children: Whitney, Danny, and Tracie. Steve was a constant, devoted presence in their lives and was the dad who loved attending every sports game, music recital, and school event.
He had a gift for bringing people together and enjoyed hosting numerous parties and family gatherings throughout the years. In 2009, Steve became a grandfather and was affectionately known as “Boompa” to his adorable grandchildren. This new phase of life brought him immense joy, laughter, and fulfillment.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Besch, as well as his infant brother, Christopher. Steve is survived by his wife, Sue, his three children: Whitney Yadav (Sameer), Danny Besch (Lindsay), and Tracie Meister (Doug), and his five grandchildren: Noah, Ezra, Ella, Charlotte, and Piper. He is survived by his five siblings: Linda Scott (Bill), Joanne Besch (Pat), Barbara Werth (Dick), Mary Chan (Bryan), and Bob Besch (Cathy). Additionally, he is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
As we look back on Steve’s life, we remember a man of integrity—a man who loved God and loved others well. We are comforted to know that he is with His Savior, and we rejoice that we will someday be reunited with him. Steve’s quiet strength and devotion to his family leave a legacy that will live on.
