Vera Annie Angeline McSkane (née Arnold), aged 93, of Newhall, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family. Born in Poole County, Dorset, England, Vera lived a life defined by devotion, kindness, and grace.
A cherished mother of six, grandmother to fifteen, and great-grandmother to twelve, Vera found her greatest joy in her family. She was deeply loved by friends & neighbors, many of whom had known her for decades. Her welcoming nature and warm spirit made her a treasured presence in the community.
Vera delighted in attending her grandchildren's activities-gymnastics, Irish dance, and cross-country running-and shared a lifelong love of horseback riding, nature, and long walks with her beloved husband. She treasured evenings spent with friends playing bunco and found beauty in life's simple moments-clouds, sunsets, and sunrises-which she loved to share with others.
A convert to Catholicism, Vera was deeply committed to her faith. As a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, she rarely missed Mass or holy days of obligation. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing comfort and the Sacrament to those unable to attend services.
Vera will be remembered for her generosity, warmth, and sociable spirit. She enriched the lives of all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael, who passed away in January of this year. She is survived by her two sons, four daughters, and their families.
