

Catherine “Cat” Blackwell Moore, age 88, of Claremont, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great –grandmother, and friend to many, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.
Born July 27, 1926 in York County, SC, she was the daughter of the late John David Blackwell and Mary Anne Price Blackwell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, George “Bud” Moore; brother, Charles; sisters, Margaret and Dump.
Cat was a longtime member of New Jerusalem Church and retired as an assistant supervisor at Southern Furniture where she worked for over 29 years.
She enjoyed attending the Adult Life Program in Hickory, watching the Atlanta Braves and bull riding, and listening to music at Sigmon’s Grill on Friday night.
She loved her church and her family and enjoyed selling produce with her husband, “Bud”.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Dale Moore of Bethlehem, Jerry Moore of Taylorsville, Roger Moore and wife, Sue of Claremont; daughters, Faye Myers and husband, Phil of Claremont, Nancy Few of Hickory, Robin Hutchins and husband, Frank of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Russell Blinson, Shana Blinson, Chris Mull, Crystal Barber, Brandy Mull, Dean Hammonds, Amber Johnson, Jason Moore, Deena Little, Chad Hutchins, Catherine Yount; great-grandchildren, George, Hannah, Kristin, Jordyn, Kaitlyn, Adam, Hunter, Jackson, Briana, Ashley, Jared, Gage, Gabriel, Nicholas, Ramsey, William, Elizabeth, Logan, Cameron, Alexander, Grace, Catherine, Blair, Tesla, and Michelle.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 1, 2014 at New Jerusalem Lutheran Church with Rev. Randall Cauble and Pastor John Yelton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 31, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton and at other times at the residence of Faye and Phil Myers.
