

Celine Eleanore Bowling Bishop, a matriarch with undeniable wit and charm, passed away on February 21, 2026, at the age of 87. She was born on November 26, 1938, in Campobello, South Carolina, to the late Thomas B. Bowling and Lucille Bergeret Bowling. To her family, she was and will always be our Campobello Rose.
Throughout her life, Celine was known for her impeccable style and her deep religious faith. She led with a mix of grace, grit, and good humor, keeping everyone on track and deeply cared for. A caregiver to everyone, Celine dedicated her life to nurturing those around her. In her personal time, she was a passionate gardener and artist, expressing her creativity through her plants and beautiful work. Celine Eleanore Bowling Bishop will be remembered fondly by all those whose lives she touched.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Bowling, and a sister, Elizabeth Marchbank.
Celine is survived by her daughter, Janice Hoyle (William Clark); sons, Stephen Lee Bishop (Rose) and Thomas Jeffery Bishop; and her son-in-heart, David Bernard. She is also survived by her brother, David Bowling; sisters, Cora Harless and Julia Burnett; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
