Edith Janette Lucero, age 84, of Conover, North Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was born September 25, 1941, and raised in Glen Alpine, North Carolina, to Charles Edgar Cook and Clorabell Powell.
Edith was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edgar Cook and Clorabell Powell; her husband, Miguel Lucero; her son, Miguel Lucero Jr.; and her seven brothers, Bill Cook, Bud Cook, Earl Cook, Fred Cook, Glen Cook, David Cook, and Randy Cook.
Edith attended college in Winston-Salem, where she earned a degree in nursing. In addition to her work as a nurse, she was also a bookkeeper. Above all, Edith dedicated her life to her family and devoted many years as the primary caregiver for her son, providing him with unwavering love, strength, and selflessness.
She enjoyed working outside in her yard, cooking for others, and watching sports—especially cheering on her favorite team, the Carolina Panthers. Edith was known for her kindness, sweet spirit, and generous heart. She often said she had “expensive feet,” a phrase that brought laughter and warmth to those who knew her. If she was cooking, there was always enough food for everyone.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Michelle Lucero (Victoria), and her beloved grandson, Braylen, whom she loved with her entire heart.
A private service was held at Willis-Reynolds Crematory in Newton, North Carolina.
The family extends special thanks to Sister Gina Ortiz and the staff at Magnolia Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care, kindness, and support.
Edith Janette Lucero will be remembered for her gentle nature, her selfless devotion to family, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
