Edith Kiser Schrum

Edith Kiser Schrum of Newton passed away quietly on Thursday, December 28, 2017. She was born June 4, 1927 to the late A.L. Kiser and Pinkie Howard Kiser. She was a lifetime member of Grace Reformed United Church of Christ in Newton.

Edith was proceeded in death by her husband Edward Plonk Schrum Sr. and 3 brothers.

Mrs. Schrum was well traveled visiting all parts of the world. One of her and Ed’s favorite destinations was the Cotswold’s in England where they enjoyed the sites and visited friends. Their greatest joy came when they traveled to visit their children in their homes in different parts of the country. She was a charter member of the Shorts and Jeans Garden Club in Newton. Edith was very proud of the gardens she maintained and manicured in Newton and at her home on Lake Hickory.

Edith is survived by her children Nancy Schrum of Pawleys Island, SC son Edward Schrum Jr. and wife Linda of Oak Island, NC, daughter, Karon Schrum Villalobos and her husband Edgar of El Paso Texas, grandaughter Jennifer Schrum Marsh and husband Greg and great grandchildren, Julian and Vivie Marsh of Raleigh, NC.

The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 AM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Grace United Church of Christ , 117 E J St, Newton, NC 28658 A funeral service will follow the receiving of friends with Pastor Ryan Brakemeyer officiating. Graveside services will be held at The Southside Park Cemetery in Newton following the funeral service.
