Eleanor Kendall Darby

Born July 9, 1923 in Lancaster, SC, she was the daughter of the late Everette James Hunter and Mary Frances Francisco Hunter.

"Nora" was an active community and church volunteer and homemaker. She resided in Statesville for over 30 years. She was currently a member of the Episcopal Church of Epiphany in Newton, NC. Nora and her husband, Dr. Charles Darby (deceased) were formerly members of Trinity

Episcopal Church in Statesville.

In addition to her parents, Nora was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Dr. Charles Darby and her sister, Alice Katherine Hunter Kreidler.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Charles “KC” Kreidler, Linda Trudell, John Kiley, Sarah (Herbert) David, Jeanette (Carla) Trudell, John Trudell, Alice Trudell, Quinn Trudell, Greta Trudell; and many loving friends.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Abernethy Laurels in the Spirit Place with Rev. Susan Roddey officiating. Inurnment will follow in Abernethy Laurels Memorial Gardens.
