Mr. Eugene Martin

Gene started preaching in 1956 and evangelized in numerous locations until he relocated his family to Hickory, NC. He started the New Testament Church in 1963 and was Pastor of the church until the Lord called him home. He is now enjoying time with family and friends in Heaven.

He enjoyed spending time with his immediate family including his church family. He enjoyed making music. He was loved by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Doris. They were married for 66 years. Gene and Doris have 10 children; Wanda Holden (Danny), Sheila Roark (Billy), of Hickory, NC; Randy Martin (Jansie) of Lenoir, NC; Debra Johnson (Terry) of Spartanburg, SC; Pam Cox (Victor) of Lawndale, NC; Tony Martin (Belinda) of Connelly Springs, NC; Daniel Martin (Joanne) of Granite Falls, NC; Tracy Martin (Tamara) of Newton, NC; Billy Paul Martin (Heather) of Vale, NC; Lemuel Martin (Tracie) of Vale, NC. There are also 27 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Receiving of friends will be held at Willis Reynolds Funeral Home chapel located at 56 Northwest Blvd Newton, NC 28658 on Tuesday May 30 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

His funeral service will be held at Willis Reynolds Funeral Home chapel located at 56 Northwest Blvd Newton, NC 28658 on Wednesday May 31 at 2:00 pm with Pastor David Pollard and Rev. Kenny Capps officiating. Interment will follow at Brookford Cemetery 1476 Eps Rd Hickory, NC 28602.
