

Born July 27, 1924 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Claude Koplan Deitz and Grace Lois Bolick Deitz.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during WWII including the D-Day invasion at Normandy.
Glenn attended St. Paul’s Reformed Church in Newton and had retired from Carolina Mills after over 25 years of employment. He was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed woodworking, beekeeping, and reading.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter; Sylvia Diane Teague Goins, sisters, Ruth Arrowood, and Peggy Greene; and sons-in-law, Pete Whitener and William “Bill” Goins.
Left to cherish his memory, are his loving wife of 69 years, Katie Irene Robinson Deitz, of the home; son, Steve Deitz and wife, Donna of Newton; daughter, Phyllis Whitener of Newton; sisters, Cathryne Arrowood of Newton, Hazel Robinson of Newton; grandchildren, Edward “Eddie” Lail, Scott Teague, Daniel Whitener, Heather Klavuhn, Benjamin Deitz, Jessica Coleman; great grandchildren, Dustin Lail, Braden Klavuhn, Henry Whitener, Faith Wright, Holden Deitz, Felicity Deitz, R.C. Coleman, and Loralei Coleman.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, November 16, 2014, at St. Paul’s Reformed Church in Newton, with Rev. John H. Bigelow officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Memorial Park, in Newton.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Deitz, Daniel Whitener, Scott Teague, Eddie Lail, Tory Klavuhn, and Terry Robinson.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to St. Paul’s Reformed Church, Old Church Restoration Fund, 3562 Startown Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
