Grace Jane Deal

Jane Link Deal, age 72, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born November 12, 1944 in Rutherford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jasper Josiah Link and Viola Marie Beard Link. She was a member of Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church in Newton, NC where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was the Matriarch of 100 years of history having been the church historian. She retired from Hickory City Library where she worked as the genealogist.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Link and a sister, Doris Link Covington.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 53 years, Andrew Deal, sons, Robbie Deal and wife, Stephanie of Conover, Mitchell Deal of the home; daughter, Jackie Elliott of Newton; brother, David Link and wife, Elaine of Newton; grandchildren, Jesse O’Connell and husband, Josh of South Carolina, Andi, Zoe, Grayson, Travis, Courtney, Camryn, Heather, Patrick, Branden; great-grandchild, Shealyn O’Connell; numerous nieces and nephews and family friends whose lives were touched by her example.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Faye Herbin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service.
