Ismini Kalapodas Frieser, age 96, of Newton passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born September 24, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John Kalapodas and Emily Salisbury Kalapodas.
Ismini is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dorothy M. (Lawrence) Frieser and grandson, Nicholas A. Frieser both of Kennesaw, GA; her daughter, Sandra Marie (Norman) Pottenburgh of Sandy Creek, NY and grandsons, Daniel J. Pottenburgh of Clay, NY, Timothy F. Pottenburgh of Sandy Creek, NY and Joseph A. (Pottenburgh) Nernhards of Bay, NY; 7 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece, Susan Horton of New York, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Newton, NC with Father Jim Collins officiating. Inurnment will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Memorial Garden at Abernethy Laurels followed by a reception at 3:00 p.m. at Spirit Place where friends and family will be invited to speak about Ismini.
