

Janice Mae Price Harris, 79, of Claremont, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Kindred Hospital, in Greensboro, following a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her family as she went home to be with her Lord.
Born June 25, 1933, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Layfette and Rachel Mae Yount Price. She worked for many years in the furniture industry at Montclair Furniture and Perfection Furniture. She later retired from Mor-Loc. After retirement she worked part-time at Oxford Elementary School Cafeteria. The students at Oxford gave her many enjoyable memories. Mrs. Harris was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Claremont. A great cook and wonderful baker, she was always trying new recipes to share with her family. Her specialty pound cake with buttercream icing was always enjoyed by family and friends. Affectionately known as "Prella" to her family, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her passion was her family. She enjoyed shopping with her daughters and grand-daughters and out-of-town trips to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and Blowing Rock.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Pauline Price Isaac; and nephews, Greg Isaac and Kip Isaac. Janice was married to Frank Bolick for 17 years until his death, in 1966, and they were blessed with three daughters, Jeanne Abernathy and husband, Randy, of Claremont, Susan Long, and Melissa Hunsucker, of Conover. She was also blessed with two grand-daughters, Dana Little and husband, Chip, and Candy Heafner and husband, Chris, of Claremont; and three great-grandchildren, Aaron Lewis Little, Mack Carlton Little and Mya Katherine Shook, of Claremont. In 1971, she married Clyde B. Harris, Jr., who survives. They celebrated 42 wonderful years of marriage Jan. 1, 2013. She is also survived by her sister, Marceline Wooten; and a niece, Sharon Stone and husband, Craig, of Jenson Beach, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, in Claremont, with Dr. Perry Miller officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 233, Claremont, NC 28610.
