Jean Short

Born July 21, 1937, in Belleview, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Angelo Speciale and Rose Pezzino.

Jean spent many years in Calabash, NC and recently moved to Hickory to be closer to her family. Jean was a loving mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, William Short; and sister, Mary Novak.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Mark S. Decker and wife, Patricia, of Hickory, NC; daughters, Laura Jean Smith of Sunset Beach, NC, Rosemary Decker-Nodzak of Hickory, NC; stepdaughter, Melissa DiRenzo and husband, Larry of Stanhope, NJ; sisters, Dolores Maggiore of Lincroft, NJ, Linda Celano of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren, Jennifer Decker and husband, Jason Bukowski, Matthew Decker, Stacy Jo Smith, Daniel Smith, David Smith, Nicholas DiRenzo, Amanda DiRenzo, Caitlyn Savage; and great grandchild, Jordan Paige Bukowski.

Viewing will be on Sunday, April 3, 2016, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home in Middletown, NJ.

The funeral mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Red Bank, NJ. Entombment will immediately follow in Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum in Holmdel, NJ.
