Jerry Wayne Deal

Jerry graduated from Newton-Conover High School and Lenoir-Rhyne College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration (1966). He enjoyed 30 years in banking as a loan officer and branch manager with First Union Bank and BB&T. Jerry retired from banking in 1998. He was an avid Newton-Conover football fan and enjoyed watching all sports. Jerry pursued physical fitness with interest in running and tennis until his late 60’s, after which he continued walking and fitness programs. He was a member of St. Paul’s Reformed Church in Startown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Howard W. Deal, Billy E. Deal; sisters, Helena Cloninger, Polly McClain; and brother-in-law, Jeremy (Butch) Cope.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, Audrey Cope Deal; daughter, Marsha Phillips and husband, David of Harrisburg, NC; grandchildren, Christa Foust and husband, Cameron of McAdenville, NC, Chase Phillips and wife, Lauren of Ashland, VA; great-grandchildren, Haven Grace Foust and Wyatt Chase Phillips, due April 4, 2017. He is also survived by several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-laws and nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Memorial Park with Rev. Keith Brown and Rev. Fred Thompson officiating.
