

Born January 26, 1933 in Greenbriar County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Lafayette Adkins and Hazel Pearl Frounfelker Adkins.
Katy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newton and was a retired secretary where she had worked in education. She enjoyed quilting, teaching ceramics, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Billy O. Griffis of the home; one son, David Griffis and wife, Edyth of Maiden, NC; three daughters, Judith Griffis of Astoria, OR, Margaret Venema and husband, Bruce, of Grand Rapids, MI, Virginia Willcox and husband, Jim, of Chester, VA; one brother, George Adkins, of Rainelle, WV; eight grandchildren, Laura Kolady, Olivia Duran, Eilish Duran, Caitlyn Griffis, Patric Duran, Thomas Willcox and fiancé, Christine, Robert Willcox, Sylvia Venema, and her faithful dog, Precious.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton, with the Rev. Dr. David Greene officiating.
The Griffis family will receive friends following the service at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home.
