

Born March 11, 1937 in Fulton County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Hugh Dorsey Trammell and Sarah Morgan Trammell and Ruth Avis Crawley Spears and Robert L. Spears. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Trudy Mae Trammell. He was a mechanical engineer with General Electric for 38 years, worked at Lowe’s Home Improvement garden shop for 10 years and was a substitute teacher at The Conover School for 8 years.
Mr. Trammell was a parishioner of The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Newton, NC, actively serving as a member of the Vestry and the Men’s Fellowship Group. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, backyard bird watching and following sports, especially the Newton Conover Red Devils and the Atlanta Braves. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners Scottish Rite Temple in Shreveport, LA during the 1970’s. During his career at GE, his fondest memory was working with the Apollo space program at NASA in Cape Kennedy, FL.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joyce Fort Trammell of the home; daughters, Pat Keen and husband Jerry Keen, Jr. of Spring TX, Ginger Lunsford and husband Dana Lunsford of Newton, NC; two sisters, Claudette Gaddy and Terri Houston; five brothers, Hugh D. Trammell, Jr. Ricky Trammell, Marty Trammell, Ted Trammell and Harry Trammell , all of GA; grandchildren, Nicole Call Spencer of Conover, NC, Jason Call of Catawba, NC, Jennifer Keen of Houston, TX, Matthew Keen of Spring, TX; and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Newton with Rev. G. Miles Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Newton.
The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church.
