Martha Elizabeth Pickel, 65, of Conover, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Born January 13, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Helen Elizabeth Eckard Pickel and James Carl Pickel. Martha had a special love for looking at pictures, often spending hours absorbed in images that brought her comfort and curiosity. Music was another source of happiness in her life; she found peace and pleasure in listening. Though her life was lived differently from many, it was no less significant. She reminded those around her of the beauty in simplicity and the importance of patience, care, and quiet connection.
She is survived by her brother Carl Pickel; and her cousins, Beth Gains, Mark Pickel, Edna Fulbright, Walter Vanhorn, Linda Walker, and Cathy Eggers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Katie and James Eckard; and her paternal grandparents, Carl and Edna Pickel.
