Mary Catherine Lineberger

Mary Catherine England Lineberger, age 71, of Newton NC, gained her wings Saturday August 19, 2017 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton NC. Born October 29, 1945 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Fred England and Carol Jean Baker.

Mary Catherine was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Conover NC. Mary Catherine retired from the Catawba County School systems where she served in the cafeteria at Bunker Hill High School. Prior to her retirement, Mary Catherine worked for Southern Glove for 15 years and Pierre Foods for 8 years.

In addition to her parents, Mary Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Gerome Lineberger and son, Thurman Barnard Lineberger.

Loved ones left behind to cherish her memory include sons Boyce Lineberger and wife, Judy of Conover NC, Bobby Lineberger and wife, Brittany of Claremont NC, Alan Lineberger of Charlotte NC; daughter Tangela Lineberger of Catawba NC; sisters Freida Hughes of Dolton Ill, Peggy England Jones and husband, Lamont of Rutherfordton NC, Andrea Ramseur and husband, Frankie of Conover NC, Ella Jackson and husband, Bishop Marlion Robert Jackson of Detroit MI; step-mother Ella England of Newton, NC; aunt Mary England of Newton NC, eighteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Catherine loved to cook for family and friends. She was especially famous for her fried chicken, sweet potato pies, greens, and green beans. She loved spending time with family, but especially spoiling her grandchildren.

Mary Catherine’s family loved to talk and tease Mary Catherine about her various driving incidents. She would laugh and say, “Don’t tell my husband about that one!”

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:15 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1405 Emmanuel Church Rd Conover NC 28613. with Pastor Brian Correll officiating. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery in Newton, NC.
